It is inevitable that when you have a home which has stumps as part of the base that restumping will need to be done at some point. No matter the quality of the initial work done or the material of the stumps, this will become necessary. Both wood and concrete stumps are prone to wear and tear and moss affects both types of material. While rot may affect wooden stumps more rapidly than concrete ones, concrete is by no means exempt from decay.

Decaying stumps will soon become damaged and so are a real problem since the damage to the base of the house can only be considered to be serious structural damage. The stumps which are damaged are part of the greater integrity of the foundation and cannot be left as they are. Under all circumstances they will have to be removed and replaced. It is possible to only have these items replaced but we believe it is far better to replace all the stumps instead of the damaged ones.

While replacing the damaged stumps only gives a slight reduction in the cost of labour in the moment, the long term effect may be significantly greater. By only fixing the visibly damaged, this does nothing for the continued risk of structural damage. It is entirely possible the reblocking team will have to return to replace damaged stumps in the short future that were not visibly damaged. This means the service fees can become recurring as the damaged stumps keep on turning up.
By choosing a reliable company this means the costs are never as high as doing the job partially. We always take your best interests to heart. Hence we will never replace subfloor stumps that do not need to be replaced and we test thoroughly to ensure that the ones we are not replacing will not have any problems in the short future. The stumps that do have to be replaced will, of course, be replaced quickly and professionally.

Many people overestimate the need for house restumping Melbourne. Not every instance of a sloping house means the restumping procedure must be done. That’s why our first inspection is to check the floor level and determine whether the sloping is dangerous to the structure of the home or not. The severity of the sloping has a wide range and if the slope is within the large acceptable range, then there won’t be any need for work.

Inspection is a large part of the process and we inspect all the stumps that are part of the foundation. Wear and tear as well as water damage play a significant role in the sinking and rotting and we are well aware of the tell-tale signs. Our experience enables us to be able to determine visual cues for problems and the best solutions as well. We believe that the inspection process is critical for being able to avoid future issues since it is only by thorough attention to detail that we can really see the big picture.
